Keanu Reeves plays a devoted husband and father turned cheater for a night in the provocative sexy adult thriller “Knock Knock” directed by breakout filmmaker Eli Roth whose previous work in “Cabin Fever” etched him a prominent space in the horror thriller genre.
Co-starring with sultry talented Lorenza Izzo and Ana De Armas, Reeves stars as Evan Webber, a family man left at home for the weekend when two stranded young women unexpectedly knock on his door for help. What starts out as a kind gesture results in a dangerous seduction and a deadly game of cat and mouse.
With “Knock Knock,” the director wanted to show just how fragile the world one spends a lifetime of building. When you did everything right, have a good life but still have that sinking feeling you’re missing out on something. What if you wanted to tempt fate just for one night thinking you could get away with it? Such questions lay ground for “Knock Knock’s” story.
Roth continues, “ I wanted the audience to sympathize with Evan, our main character, and to secretly make the same choices he would make. Evan tries to do the right thing, and yet, he can’t ever truly say no to these girls who show up at his door and seduce him. Evan constantly thinks he’s in control, and that’s his fatal flaw. People in their 40’s have no idea the damage one can cause with social media, because they’ve never had to think defensively in that way. Teenagers today have grown up with the threat of someone ruining your life over a picture or a text message, so as a result they know how to destroy someone. It’s a skill you have to develop as a teenager today, but it’s not one that would even be in a character like Evan’s consciousness.”
Keanu Reeves, one of Hollywood’s most sought after leading men, currently holds a box office draw of over $3.6 billion worldwide. His blockbuster films include the recent hits “John Wick” and “Ronin 47.” His fame further catapulted to worldwide attention with his starring role in “The Matix” trilogy after his phenomenal action comedy “Speed” with Sandra Bullock. Reeves’ other previous remarkable movies also include “Man of Tai Chi,” “The Day The Earth Stood Still,” “Street Kings,” “The Lake House,” “Constantine,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “The Gift,” “Sweet November,” “A Walk in the Clouds,” “Devil’s Advocate” and “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
“Knock Knock” will open October 21 in cinemas nationwide from OctoArts Films International. Rated R18 by the MTRCB.
