We are one of the lucky few who witness the dramatic Final Show of “AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016” held at Green Sun, Makati City.
From over 500 entries, the field was wittled down to six finalist who travelled all the way to Macau to complete in different challenges. Finalist neil Michael Cardano, a Hotel Front Desk Officer from Puerto Princesa, Palawan; Mithilaya Miclat, a Nutritionist-Dietician and Social Entreprenuer from Davao City; Daniel Magbanua, a Fashion Photography student from Quezon City and Dave Poblete, a BPO employee from Makati City, showed their skills in portraiture, food photography and more, as they visited Coloane Village, Fisherman’s Wharf and other cultural attractions in Macau.

All of us are rooting for our favorite photographer based on the final presentation. DJ Tracy of The Mad House of Mellow 94.7 announced the top three winners. All the entries were scrutinzed by the judges composed of young and veterans in the field of photgraphy, branding and visual arts. The panel of judges includes nachi Ugarte, creative director of GRID magazine; Jacob maentz, documentary photographer; Wawi Navarrosa, artist/photgrapher, founder of Thousandfold; and Rudy Khaw, AirAsia Group’s head of Branding.
After an intense deliberation, the “AirAsia Travel Photgrapher of the Year” was announced. Our bet photographer did not win the coveted title instead it was Kimberly Pauig who won the grand prize. Instantly, she’ll recieved 200,000 AirAsia Big Pionts, a surprise vacation package and several prizes from partner brands incuding GRID magazine and Flight 001. Dave Poblete end up as the 1st runner up and Daniel Magbanua as the 2nd runner up.

It is the 2nd year in a row of AATP, as part of AirAsia’s continious effort to inspire stories and empower the youth to pursue their goals by travelling and sharing their stories through stunning images and photgraphs. All participants went through rounds of judging and were selected on creativity, content, originality and technical or visual presentation.
