Kapuso artist Barbie Forteza and Ken Chan’s first big screen outinh as a team, the love story-rom-com-drama “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter, ” is touted to be one of this year’s much-anticipated theater release.
Moviegoers and fans alike were all agog over the tandem’s scenes as well as the film’s fine qualitu when the full trailer of this Joel Lamangan opus first made ita way on the different social media platforms.
Barbie and Ken initially xaughtthe televiewers’ fancy when they were paired in the hit GMA Network series, “Meant To Be”.
Thus was born the Ken-Bie loveteam, which also gave birth to their loyal followers who rejoiced specially hen barbie ended us in Ken’s arm by the series’ finale.
This time, the pair’s avid fans need not wait longer because the chemistry Barbie and Ken first displayed on television will be felt on the big screen very soon.

“This Time I’ll Be Sweeter” is so much different from the pair’s recently-concluded soap in that the film requires from Barbie and Ken much deeper range without sacrificing moment of kilig, joy and laughter.
In the movie, Erika (Barbie) and Tristan (Ken) are classmates in college. Tristan is considered a campus crush due to his skills in swimming. He and Erika grow close to each other but then the latter is left heartbroken as they part ways.
Erika then graduates as Cum Laude and succeeds as filed reporter. Tristan, on the other hand, ends up working for their family-owned airline company. Their paths cross once again when an incident involving Tristan’s family and Erika career come into play. The call of duty prompts Erika to communicate with Tristan for a follow-up on a story she did.
That incident brings them closer again with Erika throwing in help so that Tristan may recover form a misfortune. But is Erika prepared to be hurt again? Can love be sweeter the second time around?
Moviegoers will definitely remember Barbie’s “Dalawang bese mo na akong sinaktan, sobrang tanga ko na kung gagawin ko pang tatlo di ba?!” scene long after they have left the theater. Proof enough that she indeed is an actress to reckon with considering her triumph as best supporting actress in the international arena, no less.
Ken himself held his own and delivered such a strong performance, trained as he was as a lead star in his own series, “Destiny Rose,” on GMA Network.
Thea Tolentino, meanwhile, co-stars as the “third wheel” to Erika and Tristan’s love story. This serves as Barbie and Thea’s reunion project after working together in the successful GMA afternoon series, “The Half Sisters.”
