QUEZON CITY, Philippines–Two equally talented music artists are making their marks, The Clash alumna Kapuso Soul Princess, Kyrill and former Orange and Lemons vocalist, Mcoy Fundales via altG Records. On Friday, June 21, at Ethan’s Cafe, the former launched her debut single Silent Rumblings while the latter treated his fans with his comeback single Bakit Kita Hahabulin?
The Millennial Chick from Iloilo, is full gratitude for she ventures into a notch higher into her music career as a recording artist. She credits all the blessings to GMA Network, GMA Artist Center and altG Records. After the singing competition, she was included in the Network’s Studio 7, a weekend musical variety show.
In the said variety show that holds its tours in the country, Kyryll will always cherish the experience of being with other known artists and had the chance to [even] perform with them. At 17, she can say now that she’s living her dream.
She shared the lesson she learned from The Clash, “To enjoy every moment and don’t pressure yourself.”
Her song is a hugot-kind-of-song’ but she made clear that she hasn’t really been that in love like the one depicted in her single. She has crushes, yes, but only just that, for now.
Meanwhile, Mcoy Fundales about his journey as a singer-songwriter, “Ako naghahabol talaga because I am now 40. I wanna direk shows din. I wanna write for movies.
“There’s so many things I wanna do.”
He even went into scriptwriting workshops under the multi-awarded veteran screenwriter Ricky Lee, batch 70 (two years ago).
To date, aside from writing songs, he has found a much better space and opportunity to tell a story via scriptwriting. He is a writer-producer for GMA Network’s various shows including Pepito Manaloto and StarStruck.
Fundales also mentioned that his comeback single is something that offers a different twist in the after-credits of his music video. The song’s tone is likened to a Kundiman since he is a Bulakeno thus the influence on his single.
